| One of the few difficulties encountered were the strict conditions placed on the development due to flood zoning. The entire structure was built in reinforced block work
This was required for the brick arches which were centrally reinforced and the internal core concrete filled to withstand water pressure in the event of 1:100 year flood.
The size of the arches also were a challenge to temporarily form and bond face brickwork arches 470mm wide
The existing structure was to remain as per council conditions and retaining the existing tower structure utilising this area for the restaurant office
Construction on a local Icon is not only exposing yourself to the local community, councillors, you are also tested by the critics. It was then our mission to impress the local community of Camden what Icon Building Group is all about.
When we were approached by the owner to redevelop the retired structure on Argyle Street Camden, we also invited Camden Council to consider a European Style Pizzeria set upon the only vineyard in Camden’s town centre. Our proposal was a relief to the planning department and the local community.
The redevelopment was such a success by the feedback we received, we are regarded as a leader in commercial construction by the local business owners
This is now the entrant into 2010 MBA Excellence in Construction Awards
Icon Building have entred this into two categories - Refurbishment / Renovation / Extention
